Oguz TV: South Azerbaijani human rights activist Murtaza Muradpur’s healthcare condition enters critical states on 59 days of Hunger strike in Tabriz penitentiary.
After denying to eat anything for 59 days Murtaza Muradpor has lost more than 25 kilograms. Since December 10 he has also stopped using sugar, which has promoted the weight loss.
According to his family, Muradpur’s life is in serious danger, however, despite their numerous request, he is resisting to relinquish his hunger strike. Legal authorities in Tabriz have told Muradpur family that they would not look into Murtaza’s request for release unless he stops his Hunger strike.
Muradpur was sentenced to one year in prison for “propaganda against the state” and two years for “assembly and collusion against national security” in November 2009.
Muradpur has spent more than two years in prison, which makes him making him be eligible for discharge based on Article 134 of Iran’s Islamic Penal Code, which allows for only the longest prison sentence to be served in cases involving reoccurring convictions.
